First of all, a belated but no less Happy New Year folks!
I’ve been enjoying catching up with family and friends over the festive period, and in between times, ruminating on the year ahead, oh and setting up a new business coaching authors to write and thrive. I KNOW! It’s super exciting and, even better, my first course in February - Fox Your Fiction, an Introduction to Group Coaching - is already full!
But first, let me catch you up on what’s been happening over the festive period Down Under. My mother flew over from the UK to Australia - not bad for a ninety-two-year old! I love her to bits and miss her like hell now she’s gone back, but, let me tell you, she takes a lot of entertaining. We ate out almost every day. She has a freakish amount of energy for a nonagenarian. I swear it’s not normal, is it?

My heart and girth were both fit to burst by the end of her visit!
Cue Tubthumping music by Chumbawumba: I get knocked down, I get up again …
I am now trying my hardest to focus on the writing and the business of writing.
As mentioned, I’m delighted to say my first online group coaching course in February is over-subscribed. Click on the image, if you’d like to see more details.
As you may already know, I’m a longtime writer and editor, and now I’ve added another feather to my cap - I’ve become a certified Positive Psychology Coach. After experiencing a few ‘challenges’ last year, I decided some positive psychology training would do me some good, and it did. It’s been so incredibly helpful, I decided I wanted to share the knowledge, so I trained as a coach. Honestly, I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner. I’m loving it!
With some great tips and advice from my hubby (a business coach for over a decade), I’ve now developed my coaching courses specifically for authors. It combines plenty of positive psychology tools (such as helping writers to leverage their Values and Strengths, and develop positive mindsets) and adapts some of my military know-how and grit (I used to teach leadership and motivation in the British army) and also incorporates my twenty-plus years of knowledge and experience teaching at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. Put it all together and what’s evolved is my own Writerosophy (book of same title to come later) which I’m now coaching to help authors Write AND Thrive.

What next?
Well, my other exciting news is there’s a final chance to grab a 99c cent digital copy of 12 Tropes of Christmas in the last week of January. The bad news is, that unless you’re in America, there seems to be a slight delay and you won’t be able to grab this bargain offer for another 24 hours. Sorry!
I’ll be unpublishing the anthology in all its glorious formats at the end of the month and returning the rights to the various authors. Like the best of collaborations, it’s a little sad when these things come to an end, but I’m so grateful I worked with these amazing Aussie authors — it has been a real privilege. I’ve forged some awesome connections, shall cherish my print copy on my shelf and will have very fond memories (and fabulous writing friends) to take forward!

So what next?
End of January and beginning of February means back to work for me - writing, coaching, editing and teaching … and also thriving!
For me, reflecting on 2024 and setting the right goals and desired outcomes for 2025 is super important. Part of that also means making sure new goals align with my VALUES and that I’m leveraging my STRENGTHS as a writer. This doesn’t mean the goalposts don’t move, and it always pays to be flexible and open to new ideas and opportunities, but it helps to have something tangible to aim for. Dreams and resolutions and buzz words and aspirations are all very well … but SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timed) goals/ desired outcomes help writers to keep focused, accountable and rewarded with the progress their making. This is all part of my Fox your Fiction course.
I’m feeling excited about the year ahead. What about you? What have you got lined up for 2025? What are you reading? At the moment, I’m reading more non-fiction than fiction. My current read is Open When by Dr Julie Smith. She’s fabulous when it comes to self-awareness and self-help. 100 % recommend.
Anyhow, my lovelies, I need to dash, but I’ll be back at the end of February to let you know how my first coaching course went. If you know of anyone who you think might benefit from coaching ( not just book coaching, this is also positive mindset coaching), please pass on my details. Check out these lovely testimonials.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Any feedback on my books or website always very welcome!
